Square gems have a flat edge and this allows them to fit snugly into the gold mounting as the entire edge is in contact with the gold. Round or oval gemstones on the other hand, would touch the gold mounting only in a small arc portion and are therefore less firmly mounted. You can order your ring as a yellow or white gold three stone ring. The price for yellow and white gold remains the same. 14k and 18k gold options are available, we recommend 14k 3 stone rings as they would be much harder than 18k gold rings. The sterling silver ring with three gem stones will have the same high end craftsmanship as the gold ring. For sterling silver rings, we would recommend no rhodium or other plating as, all plating on silver will wear off with time. However, if your prefer to have your silver three gemstone ring plated with gold or rhodium, we will do it at no additional charge.
